Atonement

Apart from being the most straightforward, simple song on the album, "Atonement" also serves as a transition and an introduction to "The Monstrous Cloud"-trilogy. The way I view the album, there's a clear point at "Atonement" where the album shifts in sound and soul, and so, I found that it would be neat to have a break, for lack of a better word, dividing the two halves.

I really enjoy the chorus of the song. However, I sometimes feel like it didn't quite reach it's full potential, so I might revisit it at some point. Nonetheless, in the context of the album, it does what it's meant to do. It's short and sweet, and most importantly, it sets the mood for the remainder of the album.
